ALEXANDRA ALBINI  / ABOUT

Interior designer by training, Norwegian by origin, Alexandra Albini lives and works in Milan as a jewellery designer.

Her exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces are crafted in solid 18 and 22k gold, using techniques handed down through the span of millenniums on the Italian peninsular. The inspiration originates from the past, the thousand identities and traditions that have developed in the course of centuries in the Mediterranean. Alexandra’s pieces are created with women in mind who like herself are collectors, inspired and cosmopolitan travellers, evermore in search of accessories that reflect the very uniqueness of their own personality.

The decision to create jewellery was very much instilled by her personal collection of ancient jewellery. The beauty of these hand made pieces has given inspiration to her own creations, in the way these reflect the past and at the same time take on a modern character.

THE UNIQUE CONCEPT / TRADITION AND INSPIRATION

Alexandra’s approach to design is strongly influenced by her early exposure to Japan. Its Zen philosophy of “less is more”, emphasizing the essential quality and innate character of nature itself, has left a profound imprint on her work.

Another important influence has been the attraction to the arts, in particular that of modern sculpture. The plasticity and emphasis on texture became an inspiration to liberate her own creativity. Italy has had a fundamental role; the immersion in its history and the collective imagination of its population is catching and tremendously educating.

Together with a team of gifted artisans in the historic centre of Milan, Alexandra brings her designs to ‘life’. It is here that she explores and liberates her imagination, nurtured by their discernment and life-long experience in the field, of what is often termed ‘Made in Italy’. Every gem is chosen not solely for its natural beauty, but also often for its intrinsic energy, transforming it into a very personal talisman.
